The 21st annual National Freedom of Information (FOI) Day conference will bring together groups from all areas concerned with freedom of information and open records including FOI advocates, government officials, lawyers, librarians, journalists and educators.
Keynote speaker: Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., chair of the House Oversight and Reform committee.
Special guest speaker: Rep. Jimmy Gomez, D-Calif.
National FOI Day is hosted each year to discuss major issues around the national Freedom of Information Act, to call attention to Sunshine Week — an annual event celebrating access to information across the nation — and to commemorate the March 16 birthdate of James Madison.
Note: A complimentary lunch ticket will be issued to registered attendees who check in prior to 10 a.m.
The conference is conducted by the Freedom Forum Institute, The Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, the American Society of News Editors, Fix the Court and OpenTheGovernment.
